Make a delicious sugar cookie recipe. If you don't have one of your own, here is mine.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 3/4 cups flour
1 tablespoon milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream butter and sugar, add egg and mix. Add remaining ingredients and mix until smooth. Refrigerate dough for 2 hours. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin 1/8 inch thick on a lightly floured surface, dip cutters into flour before each use.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 12 - 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Place on cooling rack for 5 minutes.
When they are cooled you can decorate them like the American Flag. If you have other types of cookie cutters you can use those and be creative making red white and blue decorations.
Here is a recipe for frosting:
1 cup confectioners sugar
2 teasopoons milk
2 teaspoons light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
Food coloring
Directions - In a small bowl, stir together the confectioner's sugar and milk until smooth. Add the corn syrup and almond extract; mix well. if icing is too thick, add more corn syrup. Divide into separate bowls and add food colorings to desired intensity. Spread on cookies or paint them with a brush. Yummmm.
Have fun.
