Solving Problems with Manners

- Say "please", be generous, wait your turn, obey rules, share, be a good listener, respect people in charge, be on time, wipe your feet, help with chores, be a good sport, hold the door for others, lend a helping hand, smile, never make fun of others, don't lose your temper, respect other's feelings, be patient, say "excuse me", speak quietly, let others know you care, don't point your finger at people, keep your hands to yourself, be friendly, obey your parents or guardians, put trash in a bin, offer your seat, clean up after yourself, greet people politely, ask before you borrow something, return things you borrow on time, be kind to all creatures, use a tissue, not your sleeve to wipe your nose, put your toys away, say "Thank you", keep your elbows off the table, put your napkin on your lap, take small bites, chew with you mouth closed, ask for food to be passed, don't reach, don't talk with your mouth full, don't play with your food, use your napkin, never slurp your soup, ask permission to be excused from the table, push in your chair, cover your mouth if you cough or sneeze, sit up straight, give compliments, make eye contact when you talk to someone, don't cut in line, hang up your coat, speak clearly, call ahead before visiting, keep your feet off the furniture, keep quiet in movie theaters, don't talk bad about others, introduce new friends, wait your turn to talk, take only your fair share, say "You're welcome."

If you can do as many of these things possible, you will find you will have more fun, more friends, more respect, more self respect, more peace and enjoy people much more.  Manners are a great way to make yourself and others feel good.  After all, that is why manners were created.  To make other people around you feel more comfortable, thus, creating a more pleasant atmosphere for your home, party, or event.

A quick note on this book about eating.  If a person sits down at the table and eats in a mannerful way; chewing your food thoroughly, one bite at a time, it is a fact that you will not gain as much weight, in fact you might instead lose weight.  So manners can play a part in weight loss as well.

There are more reasons to use good table manners than not to use them.  With this in mind, I hope you and your family enjoy my activity book and use it to it's fullest potential as well as yours.  Thank you.
